They guide the organization and the way teammates interact with each other and with customers daily by shaping behaviors and the way decisions are made at all levels of the organization.
Our Values define our core beliefs and cultural identity as a company and as a team.
Alongside values, Operating Principles are more specific and practical and will give actionable guidelines for the team to live by our values in their day-to-day actions and work. They will be a way to implement the values at a more operational level.
If our mission is the WHY, our product is the WHAT, and values and operating principles are the HOW.
While values remain relatively constant over time, operating principles may evolve as the company grows or faces new challenges. They are more adaptable to changing circumstances and can be refined to fit the companyโs needs.
Candidates should be interviewed with these in mind to try and determine their cultural fit within the company. The current team should also regularly reflect on their fit with the values and operating principles since we're all human, and some hard situations could lead us astray after a while.
Values are meant to be iterative! The first version was written by @Virgile Raingeard and @Bastien Formery but they should be representative of all of us as a group over time. Feedback is always welcome if you feel we need to take a step back and adjust something along the way.
